About Dan Hermes

Dan Hermes, born 1970, is an internationally recognized author, technologist, speaker, and artist who works in a hybrid of traditional and digital media and who writes and works in Artificial Intelligence(AI).

AUTHOR

Dan is a cross-disciplinary author of numerous books including Prompt Power: Learn to Create ChatGPT Prompts and his latest, Genius: The Owner’s Manual. He is in the final stages of completion of Moving Painting: Fine Art for Screens.

ARTIST

His art exhibitions include Boutique DESIGN New York, Hospitality Design Expo in Las Vegas, Boston CyberArts Gallery, Festival Der Nationen in Austria, and Boston’s Blue Wave Gallery. Dan’s work draws upon his unique cross-training in drawing, technology, animation, music composition, and painting. Self-trained as a visual artist, Hermes studied drawing and painting privately, owing much to Maggie Siner, who studied with Robert D’Arista, who can be traced back to Sickert.  He has authored multimedia art reviews for Media-N, the online journal for the New Media Caucus, and the Computer Music Journal(MIT Press). A true Renaissance man, Dan composes music that has been heard on National Public Radio (NPR) and has taught his improvisation methods at Boston Conservatory. He served as judge for the ICMC audiovisual art competition at the Centre for Research in New Music (CeReNeM) at the University of Huddersfield, England. His work is in several private collections including that of Anne and Michael Spalter, a leading collection of 20th and 21st century technology art that has exhibited in the DeCordova Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Dan’s work continues the lineage of American painters and sculptors in the vein of Impressionism and Abstract Expressionism in unique 21st century mediums such as moving digital paintings and video sculpture. TECHNOLOGIST

An AI Architect, Dan works at the intersection of transformative technology and empowered teams, driving innovation in Generative AI (GenAI), Large Language Models (LLMs), and software development. As architect and author of numerous published books(Apress) and articles on AI, mobile, architecture, and his forthcoming book AI Transformation, he has contributed to advancing AI knowledge and application across sectors. With over a thirty-year background in AI and software development, Dan and his teams build for firms such as Publicis Sapient, Microsoft and Fidelity Investments. Dan has also shared insights through articles for IBM Mobile Business Insights and Microsoft’s MSDN Magazine and delivered presentations at events like Microsoft Ignite, IBM Think, and Azure Day. He leads and architects projects at the forefront of GenAI, LLMs, and AI-driven applications, helping businesses across industries harness the transformative potential of AI. His most recent tech book is Prompt Power: Learn to Create ChatGPT Prompts.
